Vanessa G. Cuéllar, MD

Vanessa Gabrovsky Cu llar MD Inc | APIC A2M Anti-Inflammatory Injections, Orthopaedic Hand Wrist Surgery and Whole Body Health Supplements

Dr. Vanessa G. Cuéllar is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand and wrist disorders, and combines a traditional Western medical training with integrative, holistic medicine. She treats both children and adults in her offices located in Jupiter, FL and Palm Beach, FL, and she is on staff at Jupiter Medical Center.

She earned her Bachelors of Science in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at UCLA, completing an honors thesis in the laboratory of Dr. Jeffrey H. Miller.

Dr. Cuéllar entered Stanford School of Medicine and was selected to pursue additional research with a focus on non-viral gene therapy in the laboratory of Dr. Michele P. Calos, in the Department of Genetics. She collaborated with her husband, Dr. Jason M. Cuéllar, and spine surgeon, Dr. Gaetano J. Scuderi, in the original research that led to the founding of Cytonics Corp., which is now a research and development company dedicated to discovering therapeutics based on the anti-inflammatory protease inhibitor Alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M). A2M is a powerful inhibitor of cartilage catabolic factors and slows or stops the progression of osteoarthritis (OA) by modulating cartilage breakdown. It is used as a treatment in a variety of joints in the form of an APIC injection.

After graduating with an M.D. from Stanford University, Dr. Cuéllar completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York. During this time, she was awarded a year-long research fellowship, in which Dr. Cuéllar furthered her research in molecular biomarkers of joint disease and pathology, exploring the molecules at work causing joint pain and disease, such as in post-traumatic osteoarthritis.

Dr. Cuéllar completed a one-year fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at USC Keck School of Medicine, training under renown surgeon Dr. Milan Stevanovic. She specializes in all upper extremity disorders, particularly those of the wrist and peripheral nerves (such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel), and is trained in pediatric hand and wrist disorders as well.
